Method  1 : Formatting  External Hard Drive To NTFS

  • Simply connect your external hard drive to your Windows PC.
  • Then go to Control Panel >Administration Computer Administration.
  •  Enter Storage > Disk Management.
  • Right-click on your hard drive and hit on “Change Drive Letter and Path…”
  • Assign a new drive letter name that doesn’t exist on your PC and indicate the Partition as “Active”.
  • Finally click “OK”.
Now you have to restart PC and verify whether the external hard drive shows up in This PC/ My Computer. And you see it if you can enter the files stored within it.
Method   3: Try To Connect External Hard Drive To Another USB Port/Computer
In order to get back lost from an external hard drive, you can try the method that is the connecting external hard drive to another USB or computer.
1. At first, connect an external hard drive to another USB or to another computer. Your hard drive may be incompatible with a computer or card reader.
2. Then you have to re-assign the drive letter to your hard drive. To do so, follow the steps given below:
Click on “Start" -> "My Computer" or Windows button + X. Then, tab the "Disk Management," next right click on the disk and choose "Change Drive letter". After doing re-assigned letter and click "Finish".
At the time you try to open your external hard drive and check whether the issue is solved or not.
