Methods Of Fixing Undetected Memory card

Method 1. Run Diskpart to Format Memory Card That Cannot Format

Step 1: Hit Windows + R and press cmd and then click enter

Step 2: Press Diskpart for running Diskpart Utility.

Step 3: Click ‘list disk’ to list the drives on the PC.

Step 4: Now, type choose disk 1( the  number should be reinstated by the drive no. of your memory card)

Step 5: After that type clean for running the clean utility.

Step 6: Now you should type create partition primary to generate a new partition on the memory card.

Step 7: Just type select partition 1 

Step 8: For making the partition active type active

Step 9. Press format fs=ntfs （or format fs=fat32 for the purpose of formatting the partition to the required file system.

Method 2: Use of chkdsk command for checking memory card errors

Type “chkdsk” followed by drive letter, colon and /f at the command prompt:

Step 1: First of all insert the damaged memory card into a card reader and connect to your system

Step 2: Press on the option of “Start” from the Windows taskbar and then, choose “Computer”

Step 3: Now under the option of “Devices with Removable Storage” search your memory card and note down the drive letter allotted.

Step 4: Again click the start option and press the cmd in the search box.

Step 5: Do right clicking on the “cmd” and then, choose the option "Run as administrator”

Step 6: Now, you will find a command Window opened and thus, you can fix your unformatted memory card from here.

Step 7:  Now you should “chkdsk” followed by equivalent to the memory card, then by a : and /f.

Step 8: Afterwards please click “enter”

Step 9: At the end verify your allotted or assigned drive letterto your memory card to confirm that files are restored or not.

Method 3: Reinstalling The Driver

Reinstall the driver by given steps:

Step 1: First of right click on My Computer/ This PC and then hit the Manage option.

Step 2: Press the option of Device Manager

Step 3: Do double clicking on the option of Disk Drives and then right click on the name of your removable drive.

Step 4: Hit Uninstall and then Ok.

Step 5: Unplug your storage media and again start your computer.

Step 6: Finally, reconnect your memory card and your computer will able to detect it.

Method 4: Format Unformatted Memory Card On Computer (using Windows Platform)

Step1: Click  on Start and right click on computer and then hit “Manage”

Step 2:  Choose “Disk Management” under the option of “Storage”.

Step 3: Search your  memory card on the panel. Right click on it and then select “format”.

Step 4:  Set a appropriate “Volume label”, “File system” and, “Allocation unit size”.
